Acting Management Buys NAI Cummins to Build on History and Experience in Akron Market

NAI Cummins, the Akron area affiliate of commercial real estate company NAI Global, has changed hands following the purchase of the company by President Tom Fox and Vice President Bob Raskow.  The two have been in managerial roles at the brokerage since 2006, and have been with the company for much of its 34-year history.  They will both remain active in the brokerage side of the business, as they have been since assuming the presidency and vice presidency.
“As a privately held company, NAI Cummins has always been able to react quickly to meet the needs of our clients,” said Fox, who has been with the company since 1980.  “There was always the intent that the company would continue under the leadership of people who were already involved in company operations, and beginning in early 2010 we began earnest negotiations to take on financial responsibility for the company.”
Raskow, who joined the company in 1988, cites changes in technology as having made a major impact on the current commercial real estate market compared to the market in the past, but says “It’s still relationship-driven, and while the advances in technology have made more information available online, there’s a huge benefit to working with a knowledgeable broker who has experience and knowledge relevant to the market.”
In their new ownership roles, Fox and Raskow are eager to enhance the company’s work with corporate clients, and will use the company’s affiliation with NAI Global to offer property owners and buyers services from more than 350 offices worldwide.  They plan to add to the company’s roster of 12 experienced veteran brokers, and will be placing added emphasis on their professional development and achieving commercial real estate designations such as SIOR (the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS) and CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member.)  The new structure allows them to establish a succession plan and offer ownership options to motivated members of the NAI Cummins team.
Both Fox and Raskow are members of SIOR. NAI Cummins has 12 full time agents covering five counties in northeastern Ohio.  With more than 168 years of combined knowledge the agents have experience in every aspect of real estate including industrial, commercial, retail, and land brokerage, as well as consulting, corporate services and investment sales and acquisitions.
